Summer is over, autumn begins - travels & projects at home

Hope you had a great summer, I sure did! Lots of travelling, both work and vacation. I went to Barcelona for a tap intensive with Roxane Butterfly, and also Tamango was at the Jimmy Slyde Institute teaching and performing. It was a great week together with the tap friends from around the world coming to Barcelona to learn, jam and share.
Ron, me & Thomas in Herräng
After that I went straight to Herräng Dance Camp to teach. HDC is the worlds biggest swing dance festival, going on for five weeks every summer and with thousands of participants from all over the globe. One of the weeks also has a bunch of tap courses and I had a great time teaching, jamming and hanging out with the other teachers, all students & good friends!
Daniel Larsson was also in Herräng teaching, and he and I are working a lot together back in Stockholm otherwise. We are now creating a show with tap, music, dancing and we might even sing ;-)  It's a show about Fred Astaire but maybe more about John Bubbles who's said to be Fred's teacher. And from Bubbles we will get in to some of the other tap legends and a bit about the history of tap dance. Premiere is planned in the spring next year, maybe at Stockholm Tap Festival in mid April.
Yes, Stockholm Tap Festival is another project that has now grown in to an almost all year around job. It is a lot of planning and Andrew and I are in the midst of getting the STF 2017 faculty together. Book your calendars already, you dont want to miss THE tap event of the year!

Anyways, back to the summer... After Herräng I got some nice very vacations both in Dubrovnik and Mallorca; sun bathing, relaxing and swimming in the sea! In between, I went a week to Madrid for the Tap Residency organized by Lucas Tadeo. This is one of my favorite tap events in the year, getting to work with some great dancers from around Spain and Europe to create a show that we perform in a big theater at the end of the week. Here is the opening act:

Now back in Stockholm most dance schools has just opened after summer break. I'm teaching at a bunch of different studios around town, i'ts still time to jump on a course and some classes are drop-in, so no excuses not to come and practise! Check out the list with ALL tap classes in Stockholm, all studios, all teachers etc: Tap classes in Sthlm, autumn 2016
And later this semester I will do a workshop, two evenings, Nov 2-3, during the schools autumn break. You are very welcome to come work with me! All workshop info, click here.

Take care, never stop practising, and hope to see you at a class or jam somewhere!    /Jonas
